Here's a bit of Murphy background you may have missed. Although here he is incorrectly identified at Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island, is is our own mistake in The District, Pat Murphy.

In his own words he followed the Pelosi party line and opposed the "Surge" that President Bush wanted to help turn things around.

Can you imagine an ex-paratrooper doing that? It must have eaten into his craw and earned him emnity of thousands of servicemen and women.

History proved Murphy dreadfully wrong, as he often is.
